Birth Photography
Since I first discovered the world of birth work, I have been enthralled by the beautiful images captured in those spaces. These precious, once in a lifetime moments are frozen in time, a testament to the love and fierceness it took to bring this new life into the world.
I was lucky enough to have my friend, the incomparable Kaity Body, photograph the births of my two children. Those images are something that I am so grateful for. I love looking back to see, not just my kiddos being born, but also the love and support from those around me.
Because of this, I love to help families capture these moments. If requested, I bring my camera to births I attend as a doula and snap as many photos as I can in those quiet moments. I especially love capturing moments between the birthing person and their partner or support person. The tenderness and love melts my heart every time.
This all being said, I am NOT a professional birth photographer. It’s something that I deeply love to do, but I cannot guarantee you perfectly- edited, heirloom quality birth photos. Birthing spaces are unpredictable, and often dark, making them tricky to capture. Also, if I’m your doula, your comfort and support are my first priority. I do my very best to capture photos that you’ll love, but I want to make sure you know what you’re getting! The Calgary area is full of incredible birth photographers. If you are looking for a legit professional, let me know! I’d be happy to recommend some amazing photographers that might fit the bill for you.
